Design of Experiment: A Rational and Still Unexplored Approach to Inorganic Materials’ Synthesis

This review was devoted to outlining the use and potential increasing application of Design Experiment (DoE) approach rational planned synthesis inorganic nanomaterials, with a particular focus on polycrystalline nanostructures (metal alloys, oxides, chalcogenides, halogenides, etc.) produced by sustainable wet chemistry routes based multi-parameter experimental landscape. After having contextualised stringent need for materials’ synthesis, concise theoretical background DoE is provided, focusing its statistical basis, shortly describing different sub-methodologies, pros cons each.
